There has been a lot of chatter and speculation about who might play the character of Domino in Deadpool 2. A big list of names hit the web back in October, but as it turns out, no one on it ended up with the role. Deadpool himself Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter recently to announce that Zazie Beetz (Easy) is set to take on the role.
In the original Marvel comics, Domino was part of a government breeding programme to create the perfect weapon. Despite her showing an ability to manipulate probability in her favour, she was considered a failure and ended up as mercenary with exceptional marksmanship ability and hand-to-hand combat skills. She is also a frequent member of the X-Force team, where she joins forces with Deadpool and Cable.
What of her backstory will survive into the movie remains to be seen, but at least we now know who will be playing her. Beetz is part of the cast for Donald Glover's TV comedy Atlanta and has also been seen in movies such as James White (2015) and Wolves (2016).
David Leitch (John Wick) is directing the sequel, with Deadpool (2016) writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese once more on script duty. Reynolds is back in the suit and with luck, both T.J. Miller and Morena Baccarin will return. As for when the movie itself might come out, that is anyone's guess at this point, as the team are focused on getting it right before setting a release date.
