Though it has been filming for a while now, Ocean's Eleven (2001) spin-off Ocean's Eight is clearly not finished announcing cast members. News arrives via Deadline that Richard Armitage (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey) is the latest recruit.
While we don't yet know what role he will be playing, or whether he will just be popping in for a quick cameo, he is joining an increasingly stuffed cast.
The leads for this one include Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Cate Blanchett (The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button), Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables), Mindy Kaling (The Office), Sarah Paulson (Carol), Rihanna (Battleship) and Helena Bonham Carter (The King's Speech), with people such as rapper Awkwafina (Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising), Matt Damon (who recently revelled that he will be cameoing as Linus Caldwell) and James Corden (Into The Woods) showing up. And filling the villainous role in the caper movie is Damian Lewis (Homeland).
Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) is calling the shots, working from the script he wrote with Olivia Milch. The movie's US release date is set for 8 June next year, but there is no word on a UK slot yet. After some smaller roles in movies such as Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016) and some time in the theatre, Armitage will be back on our screens in historical drama film Pilgrimage, which should arrive later this year.
