Keegan-Michael Key joins Shane Black's The Predator

With an eye on starting to shoot the film in the coming months, Shane Black (Iron Man 3) is adding more actors to the cast of The Predator. News arrives via Variety that comedian Keegan-Michael Key (Let's Be Cops) and Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight) are now set to join.

Not much is known about the new Predator movie at this point, with rumours surrounding a suburban setting being recently debunked. What we do know for sure is that Black's script, co-written with Fred Dekker (RoboCop 3), follows the iconic alien hunting a new group of people, which includes Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl) as a former Marine and Olivia Munn (Mortdecai) as a scientist. Key's character has yet to be revealed, but The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Rhodes will be playing Holbrook's best friend and fellow veteran.

Key has become ubiquitous on screens big and small in the last few years between his work on Key & Peele and in movies such as Keanu (2016) and Why Him? (2016) He will next crop up in Joe Swanberg's (Easy) new indie movie Win It All. As for Rhodes, he was handed a plum role by director Barry Jenkins for the acclaimed Moonlight and had worked on a few films before that. He has also been seen in Westworld. He is currently at work on Horse Soldiers opposite Michael Shannon (The Iceman) and Chris Hemsworth (Thor). The Predator, meanwhile, is taking aim at a 9 February 2018 release in the US, before venturing here on 16 February.
