After forging ahead with roles in Guardians Of The Galaxy (2014), SPECTRE (2015) and the upcoming Blade Runner 2049, Dave Bautista joining the action sequel to a less than impressive Sylvester Stallone movie seems like a step back. Still, news arrives via The Hollywood Reporter that he is jumping aboard Escape Plan 2.
Stallone is back to star in the film, which currently has its plot line locked away in solitary confinement. But given the premise of the original – prison security specialist is framed and sent to one of his own seemingly impenetrable facilities, necessitating a team-up with another man to survive and get out – we can likely expect more prison madness.
Whatever happens, Steven C. Miller (Marauders) will direct the movie, which will start shooting in Atlanta soon.
Bautista is back as Drax in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, out in the UK on 28 April (which also features Stallone in an unknown capacity) followed by the Blade Runner (1982) sequel on 6 October. And he has already been in Atlanta, adding Drax to Avengers: Infinity War, which we can expect on 27 April next year.
