She offered a compelling and complicated turn as Maeve in last year's TV update of Westworld and Thandie Newton is looking to head to another galaxy. News arrives via Variety that she is in talks to join the Han Solo film.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The Lego Movie) recently started cranking the cameras on the Star Wars standalone film, working under the jokey title Red Cup. The film's plot is largely a mystery, though we do know that it will explore Han Solo's younger days, his complicated friendship with Lando Calrissian and his history with the Millennium Falcon.
Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) is on as Han, with Donald Glover (The Martian) as Lando. Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games) is playing Solo's mentor, while Emilia Clarke (Game Of Thrones) and Fleabag co-writer and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge are on board as unknown characters.
The Han Solo film will be with us on 25 May 2018. Newton will be back for more Westworld, but the show isn't scheduled to return until next year. Before that, she has worked on a Nash Edgerton (The Gift) film and will appear in The Death And Life Of John F. Donovan.
