Charlize Theron (Mad Max: Fury Road) has been wanting to bring this one to the screen for a couple of years now, after picking up the rights to Antony Johnston and Sam Hart's graphic novel The Coldest City. With Kurt Johnstad (300) on adaptation duty, the freshly retitled Atomic Blonde finds Theron as Agent Lorraine Broughton, a skilled intelligence operative called into action when an undercover MI6 spy is killed in 1989, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. She has to track down a list he was smuggling to the West in order to prevent her and her colleagues becoming endangered by the release of crucial information. And the mission becomes a deadly game of double-crossing agents and global agendas.
With James McAvoy (X-Men: First Class), John Goodman (Argo), Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Sofia Boutella (Kingsman: The Secret Service) also in the cast, Atomic Blonde will arrive in cinemas on 11 August.
