Set in Berlin in 1940, the film tells the true Working class couple Otto and Anna Quangel receive the news that their only son has lost his life in the battlefield and decide to resist the Nazi regime in their very own way. Soon the Gestapo is hunting "the threat".
Adapted for the screen by Pérez and Achim von Borries (Good Bye Lenin!) from Hans Fallada's 1947 fictionalised novel, Alone in Berlin finds Brendan Gleeson (Calvary) and Emma Thompson (Saving Mr. Banks) as Otto and Anna Quangel (based on the real lives of Otto and Elise Hampel), a working class couple who start writing postcards urging people to protest against Adolf Hitler and the Nazi regime following the death of their son in France.
With Daniel Brühl (Rush) also in the cast, Alone In Berlin arrives the UK on 10 March.
