It has certainly been a busy year for Mahershala Ali, with projects such as Luke Cage, Hidden Figures (2016) and particularly Moonlight (2016) all faring favourably. And fresh off of winning a SAG award for the latter, news arrives via Variety that he is now in talks to join the cast of Triple Frontier.
Once spearheaded by Kathryn Bigelow and writer Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker), it is now being directed by J.C. Chandor (A Most Violent Year), and has already snagged the services of Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Channing Tatum (Magic Mike).
Set in the notorious border zone between Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil, the film will chronicle the difficult efforts to combat organised crime in the area where the Iguazu and Parana rivers converge.
Bigelow is still aboard as a producer and Chandor is working from Boal's script. As for Ali, he will be seen in Alita: Battle Angel, which is due to arrive in cinemas 20 July 2018.
