If you were one of those people who refused to believe the Pacific Rim sequel was actually happening, prepare to have proof provided. Star John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) has tweeted our first look at his character, the son of Idris Elba's late Stacker Pentecost from the set of Pacific Rim: Uprising.
We now know the movie is officially known as Uprising – even though Boyega previously released a picture of the script with the title Pacific Rim: Maelstrom on his Instagram – and has former Daredevil show-runner Steven S. DeKnight directing a film that is mostly still wreathed in the fog of mystery. We don't yet know its plot, but that new name certainly suggests fresh interactions with the monstrous kaiju and new Jaegers to take them on.
The sequel to Guillermo del Toro's 2013 monster mash action film also stars Scott Eastwood (Fury), Tian Jing (Special ID) and Levi Meaden (Aftermath). Pacific Rim: Uprising will be smashing it's way into cinemas from 23 February next year.
