Jackie Chan joins Five Against A Bullet

After finally emerging from development limbo with the hiring of Joe Carnahan (The Grey) to re-write the script and direct, Sony Pictures' action movie Five Against A Bullet is moving into the casting stage. Now news arrives via Variety that Jackie Chan (The Karate Kid) is the first person joining the film.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) brought the project to the studio five years ago, with a script by Alex Litvak (Predators). It is the story of a Mexican politician whose father is slaughtered by a drug cartel. In order to stay alive during a campaign to clean up his local area, the canny politico hires the five best bodyguards available.

Chan will be one of those protecting the main man, and we can think of few people we would want watching our backs – he is a skillful martial artist who certainly knows how to take injuries. Variety's story offers no update on when this one might start shooting (Carnahan is also attached to make the new Bad Boys film), but at least there is some forward movement on this one.

Before it happens, Chan will lend his voice to The Lego Ninjago Movie and is co-starring in The Foreigner, which has yet to confirm a release.
