"Replicants, like any other machine, are either a benefit or a hazard..." Said Harrison Ford's Rick Deckard in Blade Runner (1982) – and those words are echoed in this first teaser trailer for Blade Runner 2049, the first sequel to that film some thirty-five years later.
Denis Villeneuve is directing the highly anticipated follow-up to Ridley Scott's classic, with his semi-regular cinematographer Roger Deakins along for the ride. This short teaser shows some of the fruit of that labour with some astonishing shots of a dusty future Los Angeles and the familiar rain slicked neo noir streets.
Harrison Ford is reprising his role as the LAPD blade runner assigned to retire the genetically engineered 'replicants'. In 2049, Deckard has been missing for 30 years, and it takes a new blade runner known only as K (Ryan Goslin) to track him down.
With Robin Wright (House Of Cards), Dave Bautista (Guardians Of The Galaxy), Mackenzie Davis (The Martian) and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) also in the cast, and Ridley Scott aboard as executive producer, Blade Runner 2049 will arrive in cinemas on 6 October.
