Damian Lewis set to play the villain for Ocean's Eight

The cast for Ocean's Eight announced so far as been exclusively full of some great female performers including Sandra Bullock (Gravity), Cate Blanchett (The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button), Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables) and Helena Bonham Carter (The King's Speech). But now news arrives via Variety that Damian Lewis (Homeland) is set to bring his particular talents to the film, playing the target of the robbery.

He will actually be Bullock's former lover who is the subject of a little revenge plan – so we are going to go ahead and assume he is not exactly the nicest guy in the world. According to Variety, he has been spotted on the set and is in a main role, not just a cameo, as with Matt Damon, who is reportedly briefly bringing his Ocean's Eleven character Linus Caldwell to the spin-off.

Eight's cast also includes Rihanna (Battleship), Sarah Paulson (Carol) and Mindy Kaling (The Office), with Gary Ross (The Hunger Games) calling the shots from the script he wrote alongside Olivia Milch.

American audiences will see the movie on 8 June 2018, but there is no UK date on the books as yet. Lewis will be back for the second season of financial drama series Billions, which should return to TV screens in February.
