Aquaman movie now set to arrive in October 2018

While it hadn't been formally announced, there was thought that the standalone Aquaman movie, to be directed by James Wan (The Conjuring), would arrive for a summer slot in 2018. Now news arrives via The Wrap that the film will actually land in October that year.

Aquaman, of course, will dive into more detail about Jason Momoa's sea dwelling half-human, half-Atlantean superhero, who we glimpsed briefly in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice (2016) and will meet properly in the first Justice League, which arrives on 17 November.

Not much else is known about the story for the solo hero film, but Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) will be back to play fellow Atlantis occupant (and queen) Mera, following her own Justice League introduction. Willem Dafoe (The Grand Budapest Hotel) is likewise on to play Vulko, whose comic history is a complicated one, swinging between trusted advisor and friend to the title character and potential threat.

Aquaman, assuming it keeps to the day and date plan of Justice League will hit UK screens on 5 October 2018.
