Biblical character inspired action adventure Methuselah has been waiting in development limbo for a good few years now. But things finally seem to be picking up a little, as news arrives via Deadline that Joachim Rønning (Kon-Tiki) is now attached to direct Tom Cruise (Edge Of Tomorrow) in the movie.
Methuselah follows a protagonist who ages at a snail's pace, picking up survival skills along the way. Skills that make him a nightmare for anyone who gets in his way, one presumes. Harry Potter producer David Heyman has been trying to get the film made at Warner Bros since 2009 and at one point had James Watkins (The Woman In Black) on board to direct.
Watkins has since left, but the project stayed alive, particularly since Cruise is seriously considering the move. Deadfall (2012) writer Zach Dean worked on a daft that got everyone interested and now Heyman and his team have brought in Rønning, who is currently finishing off work on the new Pirates Of The Caribbean film, known here as Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge. According to Deadline, the studio will have several writers work on the script before finally securing Cruise's service.
Cruise has Jack Reacher: Never Go Back out in cinemas now and Rønning's Pirates Of The Caribbean entry is due to dock into cinemas on 26 May next year.
