New one sheets for A United Kingdom arrive online

Pathé have recently released a batch of new one sheets for Amma Asante's (Belle) A United Kingdom.

Amma Asante made waves with Belle (2013), opening doors from Hollywood to Prince's Paisley Park. Now she is back with a new historical romance, A United Kingdom.

Like Belle, A United Kingdom is a true life tale of love, prejudice, social conventions and like Belle, it promises heartache as well as uplift. David Oyelowo (Selma) is Botswana's future president Seretse Khama and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) plays London office clerk Ruth Williams. The movie charts their unlikely love affair and subsequent efforts to navigate through the opposition of their respective governments. The late 1940s setting adds post-war pathos to a story of love in both hot and cold climates.

"I always say that a film doesn't become a film until it meets its audience," Asante tells Empire magazine. "I'm sitting here on the edge of my seat just waiting to see how audiences react to it and how it touches them, really. If it touches them half as much as Belle touched audiences I'll feel like I'm in a good place."

Lending support are Tom Felton (Belle), Jack Davenport (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Terry Pheto (Tsotsi), Arnold Oceng (Adulthood) and Laura Carmichael (Downton Abbey).

A United Kingdom is out in cinemas now.
