Having conquered the world with Despicable Me (2010) and Minions (2015), Illumination Entertainment are hoping you will fall for their animal adventures too. The Secret Life Of Pets is already out in cinemas and now the company are set to unleash the critter filled world of Sing.
Sing finds Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club) as Buster Moon, the dapper koala impresario who oversees a theatre that was once a grand entertainment venue, but is now falling on hard times, with peeling paint and dodgy plumbing. In a final attempt to restore the venue to its former glory, he decides to stage the world's greatest singing challenge, throwing the doors open to members of the public who think they have what it takes.
Five main contenders emerge – a mouse (Seth McFarlane) who is a crook with a smooth voice, a teenage elephant (Tori Kelly), a busy mother sow (Reese Witherspoon), who juggles the demands of her 25 piglets with her singing ambitions, a young, tough gorilla (Taron Egerton) and a punk rock porcupine with the proven pipes of Scarlett Johansson (Lucy). But who will win?
Son Of Rambow's (2007) Garth Jennings writes, directs and corrals the talent for this one, which also includes John C. Reilly (Carnage), Nick Offerman (Parks And Recreation), Peter Serafinowicz (Guardians Of The Galaxy) and Jennifer Saunders (Coraline).
Sing will arrive in the UK on 27 January.
