Maui's song – You're Welcome – has the blowhard character talking up his many accomplishments with the help of Mini-Maui, his main tattoo and occasional Jiminy Cricket like conscience. The track was written by Hamilton musical genius Lin-Manuel Miranda, who tailored it to Johnson after listening to vocalisations from his wrestling days.
Moana follows the titular girl (Auli'i Cravalho), a free spirited teenager living in the South Pacific years ago, who sets out on a mission across the ocean to prove herself and to help her people. Spurred by her grandmother's stories, she ends up traveling with porcine best pal Pua, bird-brained chicken Heihei (Alan Tudyk), and Maui, a demigod and troublemaker who has his own scores to settle and a tattoo version of himself that acts as his conscience.
With Clements and Musker on directing duties and the likes of Jemaine Clement (What We Do In The Shadows), Rachel House (Whale Rider), Nicole Scherzinger (Men In Black 3) and Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith) providing their voices, Moana is out in cinemas now.
