The Weinstein Company have recently released their latest trailer for Larry Charles' (Borat) Army Of One.
Nicolas Cage (Kick-Ass) may have appeared in a lot of movies over these past few years, but not all of them have hit the heights of his past career. Some, in fact, skip cinemas entirely and find themselves on home entertainment formats. One such example is offbeat comedy Army Of One.
While releasing straight to video on demand or Blu-ray no longer holds quite the stigma it once did, it is still a little surprising for a movie that has Larry Charles directing.
Army Of One is the based on truth story of Gary Faulkner (Cage), a flamboyant Colorado resident who in 2010 decided he was going to be the man to take down Osama Bin Laden. Armed with a sword he bought from a home shopping network, a pair of night vision goggles and his fervent belief that he was doing God's work in tracking down and wiping out one of the most dangerous men on the planet.
God, in this case, is played by Russell Brand (Get Him To the Greek) a man who, if we are honest, probably shouldn't be allowed in a venue where people refer to him as the Almighty. As for Gary, you will know of course that he didn't succeed in his mission, but the tale is enough in itself. If you are so inclined, you can read the Chris Heath article the movie is based on at GQ's website.
Army Of One is out in the US now but has yet to secure a UK release date.
