Sony Pictures are continuing to build their cast for a new live action and CGI blended take on Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit. With James Corden (Into The Woods) and Rose Byrne (X-Men: First Class) already in place for two of the lead roles, news now arrives via Deadline that Domhnall Gleeson (Ex Machina) has landed the key human role of Mr. McGregor.
Will Gluck (Easy A) is directing the new movie, which will see people such as Gleeson and Byrne interacting with animated animals in the story of the plucky rabbit who decides to raid McGregor's vegetable garden.
Corden is lending his vocal talents to Peter, while Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Man From U.N.C.L.E) are also voicing animals. The film is setting up to start work at animated effects studio Animal Logic in Australia this January, with an April 2018 release date pencilled in.
Gleeson remains a man in demand, having worked on a new, untitled Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) drama, comedy drama Crash Pad, and a biopic of another literary icon, A. A. Milne. And then there is the small matter of his return as the sneering, scheming General Hux in Rian Johnson's (Looper) Star Wars: Episode VIII, due out on 15 December next year.
