Scheduling issues has meant that Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) director Elizabeth Banks couldn't make the sequel, and the new movie has been floating around without someone in the chair for a while. But news arrives via Variety that Universal Pictures have hired Trish Sie (Step Up All In) to direct Pitch Perfect 3.
Banks, of course, is still heavily involved in the film, acting as producer and returning to the role of singing competition announcer Gail. The film will see Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow all back performing again, though no details of the plot have emerged as of yet. Kay Cannon is once more on script duty, though Mike White (School Of Rock) stepped in to write an earlier draft of this third outing for the franchise.
Universal Pictures shifted the third film's release date back to December 2017 after learning that Banks couldn't direct the new one, but with Sie now on board, the shoot should be able to go ahead on schedule. She has got experience shooting performance, in addition to the Step Up All In (2014), she has worked on music videos for the likes of OK Go and more.
