Having already secured the services of Jessica Chastain (The Martian) for period drama Women Walks Ahead, director Susanna White (Our Kind of Traitor) is adding to the cast. News arrives via Deadline that Sam Rockwell (Moon), Ciarán Hinds (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Michael Greyeyes (The New World), Chaske Spencer (The Twilight Saga: New Moon) and Bill Camp (12 Years A Slave) are all now aboard.
Steven Knight (Locke) has written the script, which charts the story of Caroline Weldon (Chastain), a woman from Brooklyn in the 19th century who moved to a Native American reservation in the Dakotas to help Sioux chieftain Sitting Bull fight to keep his people's land out of the grasp of the government. Despite vilification and mockery from the press, who labelled her "Sitting Bull's White Squaw", she kept up her campaign, writing constantly to the federal government and eventually living on the land for years with her son.
With the cameras rolling in New Mexico and Chastain busy making notes on her script, the new cast members are hard at work, though Deadline's report doesn't give details of who they will be playing. There is also no sign of a release date as yet, but we would expect distributors to snap this one up based on the talent involved alone.
