Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan set for Wildlife

Paul Dano (Prisoners), currently on our screens opposite Daniel Radcliffe (Kill Your Darlings) in Swiss Army Man, is set to make his directorial debut with Wildlife. Now news arrive via The Hollywood Reporter that Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) and Carey Mulligan (Drive) are set to play his leads.

Dano and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks) have adapted the script from Richard Ford's 1990 novel. The book's story follows teenager Joe Brinson, whose family moves to Montana when he is 16. The shift in location doesn't help the underlying family tension, as his father, a professional golfer who teaches at a local club, discovers that his wife is having an affair. And there is also the threat of a looming fire...

With indie production companies June Pictures and Nine Stories setting this one up, Dano should have the cameras rolling in November, intending to film in Montana and Oklahoma.

Swiss Army Man, meanwhile, is out in cinemas now.
