After her blood covered stint in the Evil Dead (2013) remake, you would think Jane Levy might be tempted to just let the phone go to voicemail when director Fede Alvarez calls. But the two enjoyed their crack at horror and they have reunited for Don't Breathe, a home invasion thriller that also features Stephen Lang (Avatar).
Levy plays Rocky, a young woman struggling with life in Detroit, faced with uncaring parents and trying to do the best by her little sister. So when her boyfriend Money (Daniel Zovatto) and pal Alex (Dylan Minnette) show up offering the chance to make some real money, she tags along. The trio regularly break into wealthy houses and makes off with what they can sell, but this is a different prospect.
Their latest target is the ramshackle house of a lonely, blind war veteran (Lang), who won a big settlement from a wealthy family after his daughter died in a hit and run accident. But when they break in, Rocky and her light fingered cohorts find that he is far from helpless, and the teens are soon in a twisted cat and mouse game for their lives...
Alvarez is directing from a script he wrote with regular collaborator Rodo Sayagues, and Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert's Ghost House Pictures are producing once again. The movie arrives here on 9 September.
