With Ben Wheatley (High Rise) and Elijah Wood (Maniac) sharing producer credits, this one is the brainchild of Hosking and his co-writer Toby Harvard. The Greasy Strangler is set in Los Angeles and follows dad Ronnie (Michael St. Michaels) and his son Brayden (Sky Elobar) and their 'disco walking tours' around the city. Dad, though, is a homicidal lunatic with a penchant for covering himself in fat. That is probably worth mentioning.
"Someone said it's like Steptoe & Son on a psychedelic substance," says Hosking in the latest issue of Empire magazine, "but there's loads of stuff in there – LA films from the '70s, old cartoons, David Lynch, dirty amateur porn..."
Cult status surely awaits The Greasy Strangler, which will unleash itself on an unsuspecting public in cinemas from 7 October.
