Breck Eisner set to direct the new Friday The 13th reboot

Director Breck Eisner's career has been something of a mixed bag – there have been fun flops (Sahara), out-and-out nonsense (The Last Witch Hunter) and effective horror (The Crazies). Now news arrives via Deadline that he is taking another stab at the killer genre, entering talks to direct the latest Friday The 13th reboot, residing at Paramount Pictures.

This latest outing for Jason Voorhees has stumbled through the development briar patch like a victim with an axe through their shoulder. Directors, including David Bruckner (V/H/S) and writers such as Nick Antosca (Hannibal) and Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) have come and gone and the studio, alongside Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes company, have seemed no closer to getting Voorhees back to our screens, assuming they even plan to use Jason this time...

But with the studio back on course to bring the iconic series to life, Eisner has been approached. If it all works out, the film might be in cinemas as early as next year, but then again Paramount Pictures have been saying that since at least 2013. As always, watch this space.
