Lennie James joins Blade Runner sequel

Lennie James can usually be found moralising or arguing against killing as Morgan on The Walking Dead, though he does his fair share of zombie slaying. But now news arrives via Entertainment Weekly that he swapping his post-apocalyptic present for a dysfunctional, climate ravaged future as he will be part of the still untitled Blade Runner sequel.

Denis Villeneuve (Sicario) is directing the new movie, which sees the return of Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, the man last seen chasing down wayward genetically engineered replicants illegally extending their lifespans. The new movie is set decades after Ridley Scott's 1982 original and will co-star Ryan Gosling (Drive) and Robin Wright (House Of Cards).

Other details remain a mystery beyond the extensive cast that James now joins, including Dave Bautista (Guardians Of The Galaxy), Ana de Armas (Knock Knock), Mackenzie Davis (The Martian), Sylvia Hoeks (The Best Offer) and Carla Juri (Wetlands). With a script by Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Green Lantern), the Blade Runner sequel is set to arrive on screens 6 October next year.
