Jim Mickle set to direct Sylvester Stallone's new thriller

Back in April, Sylvester Stallone (The Expendables) took the stage at CinemaCon to announce that he was attached to a new thriller for flourishing mini-studio STX Entertainment. Originally called Godforsaken, the film is currently nameless. It does, however, have a director, with news arriving via Deadline that Jim Mickle (We Are What We Are's) is set to call the shots.

The mystery thriller finds Stallone as an aging former prisoner who has been estranged from his family – particularly his son – for the years that he was in jail. But when he hears that his son has died, his quiet and lonely life is shattered as he realises he will have to protect the family that he has left.

Daniel Casey (Dogma) wrote the script, and Mickle will now look to gather the cast around his star. The director last released Cold In July (2014) and is currently developing The Esperanza Fire, based on John Maclean's novel and true life tome about a massive wildfire in California.
