Corin Hardy set to direct Hell Bent

He came close with the new take on The Crow – and according to Deadline, that idea may yet make it out of development limbo – but it looks like Corin Hardy (The Hallow) will be making his big studio debut with horror tinged action thriller Hell Bent.

Written by Mike Finch and with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vaharadian (Transformers) producing for Paramount Pictures, Hell Bent has been bubbling away for some time. The story follows a group of mercenaries locked up in a Brazilian jail who are murdered and then lead into the depths of hell in a somewhat improbable sounding scheme to kill Satan. And they have a ticking clock hanging over their heads, because he is planning to bring hell to Earth...

It could be a lot of fun, particularly in Hardy's hands, and promises to offer some choice roles for new and up-and-coming actors as the studio intends to keep the budget relatively thrifty in the hopes that this can kick-start a potential new franchise.

As for The Crow, Deadline offers the hint that there might be a solution to the issues that led to the latest problems with the film, and that Hardy may still end up making it. Yet there are apparently still obstacles and it may need the assistance of another studio to iron everything out. For now, consider that one floating in limbo a while longer.
