Leonardo DiCaprio set for Conquest

Given that The Revenant (2015) has put Leonardo DiCaprio on his strongest path to awards glory yet, it certainly makes sense that he would want to reunite with one of the people behind the film. News arrives via Deadline that he is attached to star in a mysterious movie called Conquest, to be written by Mark L. Smith.

Mysterious doesn't even begin to truly describe this one, which has been kept so incredibly quiet that even the various trade stories on the subject don't have so much of a whisper of a basic plot line. But that is mostly because the deal with Paramount Pictures for the film is so fresh the ink is probably still warm from the printer.

Smith, who co-wrote Revenant with director Alejandro González Iñárritu, will write the script, which we can only assume will feature somebody journeying or overcoming something? He is also busy on other projects, including the equally under wraps Collider, which has Edgar Wright (The World's End) attached to direct and J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) involved as producer. Then there is also Viking drama King Harald, which DiCaprio is developing with his own production company.
