Julie Delpy joins J.K. Simmons in The Bachelors

Announced last November with J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) at the head of the cast, The Bachelor is now starting to fill in the rest of its roster. News arrives via Deadline that Julie Delpy is the latest addition, sticking with indie dramedy after her most recent turn in Todd Solndz' Wiener-Dog. Kurt Voelker (Park) is the writer and director.

Simmons will be playing a recently widowed man who decides that he needs to bond with his estranged teenage son. Moving to a new city, they both strike up romances with "extraordinary women", but when those relationships are tested, it is the father and son bond that helps them both.

Delpy, we would assume, is one of those amazing ladies, with the other likely to be announced in the near future. Likewise we would expect to learn who is playing Simmons' son before too long.

"We are thrilled to have such strong performers joining this project," says production company Fortitude International's Nadine de Barros. "[Simmons and Delpy] are the perfect talents to bring this beautifully written story to the big screen."

Deals were being made at the Berlin Film Market last week, and shooting is set to start in Los Angeles next month.
