Criminal continues Kevin Costner's recent thriller kick, following Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014) and 3 Days To Kill (2014). It is also Ryan Reynolds' second body swap movie in two years, following Tarsem Singh's Self/less (2015). Costner plays a ruthless career criminal (hence the title) who, rather than face the rest of his life in jail, volunteers for an experimental procedure to have the memories and skills of a murdered CIA field agent transferred into his own mind... with predictably unpredictable consquences.
The producers are Chris Bender and J.C. Spink (We're The Millers), with Avi Lerner (The Expendables) among the executive producers. Director Ariel Vroman previously made the excellent The Iceman (2010), and the screenplay is by Douglas Cook and David Weisberg (The Rock).
Costner and Reynolds are part of an impressive cast that also includes Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6), Tommy Lee Jones (No Country For Old Men), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises), Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness), Jordi Mollà (Riddick), Antje Traue (Man Of Steel) and Scott Adkins (The Bourne Ultimatum).
Criminal arrives in the UK on 15 April.
