Bella Heathcote joins Fifty Shades Darker

As Christian Grey's closet starts creaking open in the follow-up to Fifty Shades Of Grey (2015), we meet the women who shaped his life. Now news arrives via Deadline that Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows) is the latest addition to join the cast for Fifty Shades Darker.

Heathcote is set to play Leila, one of Grey's (Jamie Dornan) former lovers, a young woman who still has the emotional scars of their relationship. Wonder what secrets she will be sharing with his current lover Anastasia Steel (Dakota Johnson).

Heathcote joins the recently cast Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential), with Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford and Max Martini all reprising their roles from the original. Fifty Shades Darker deepens the issues, but also the connection between Christian and Anastasia, while digging into their world a little further.

Niall Leonard – husband of book trilogy author E.L. James – has been working on the script with his wife, with James Foley (Confidence) on board to direct both this and final instalment Fifty Shades Freed.

Fifty Shades Darker arrives on 10 February next year, with Fifty Shades Freed landing on 19 February 2018. As for Heathcote, she can currently be seen on screens in Pride And Prejudice And Zombies.
