New still from Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book arrives online

Walt Disney Pictures have recently released their latest still from Jon Favreau's (Cowboys & Aliens) The Jungle Book via Empire magazine.

Any filmmaker would be falling over themselves to direct an ensemble boasting Scarlett Johansson (The Avengers), Idris Elba (Prometheus), Bill Murray (Moonrise Kingdom), Christopher Walken (Seven Psychopaths), Ben Kingsley (Hugo) and Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years A Slave). But not many directors would consciously choose to hide their faces. Cue Jon Favreau, the man behind The Jungle Book's stellar motion captured cast.

Taking on Rudyard Kipling's 19th century source material, Favreau's latest focuses on the adventures of Mowgli (Neel Sethi), the human orphan raised by animals in the jungle.

"There was a certain quality we wanted, and we knew he was going to have to carry the film," Favreau told Empire about his leading man-cub. "So it was going to have to be somebody that had a certain charisma, a certain charm and certain qualities that I remember from the cartoon."

As the image above shows, Mowgli won't be alone in the jungle. The rain soaked wolf the youngling is clinging to is Raksha (voiced by Lupita Nyong'o), Mowgli's adoptive mother.

With a script by Justin Marks, The Jungle Book arrives in the UK on 15 April.
