An incredibly powerful and ancient mutant, Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) is the source of several biblical myths and considered a living god. Needless to say he will be causing trouble for James McAvoy's Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender's Magneto and the rest.
The film finds our heroes split across the globe – The Professor is still trying to help mutants blend in with the world, while Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) is on her own crusade to settle matters between humans and mutants in a more violent fashion. Magneto, meanwhile, is opting for a quieter life of love in Poland. At least, that is, until Apocalypse arrives to recruits him...
And the endlessly dangerous being is also taking on what has always been known in the comics as his Horsemen, which in this case includes the young Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Psylocke (Olivia Munn) and Angel (Ben Hardy), who are all in bad circumstances of their own. Apocalypse, who has been in slumber for centuries, decides that the 1980s is a world ripe for a reboot.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be invading our screens on 19 May.
