New IMAX one sheets for Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrive online

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have recently released a batch of collectors edition IMAX one sheets for J.J. Abrams' (Star Trek Into Darkness) Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

To the surprise of almost nobody at all, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now officially the highest grossing film of all time in the UK. Only the second film in UK box office history to reach £100 million, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has now passed the £103.2 million haul taken by Skyfall (2012) to reach the top spot. And it continues to destroy everything in its path, smashing any number of previously held box office records.

It is already the biggest film of all time in the US, with a staggering $815.9 million domestic haul. But it remains some distance from the worldwide number one, James Cameron's Avatar (2009) is the one to beat, with a seemingly insurmountable global gross of $2.8 billion. All eyes are now on how Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to perform in China, the world's second largest film market. But audiences there aren't as familiar with the franchise – the original trilogy first screened in July 2015. Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened in China last week.

Here in the UK though, Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm certainly have plenty to be happy about – as well as the number one movie of all time, they can also boast severals box office records, including the biggest ever UK opening weekend, the biggest ever opening worldwide, the widest release of a title in the UK, the highest advance bookings of all time, the first film to reach £50m within a week and the biggest ever single day at the box office with £9.7million.

Written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes), the film stars Star Wars veterans Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and new saga arrivals Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis), John Boyega (Attack The Block), Daisy Ridley (Silent Witness), Adam Driver (Girls), Andy Serkis (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes), Domhnall Gleeson (About Time), Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years A Slave), Gwendoline Christie (Game Of Thrones), Max von Sydow (Shutter Island), Christina Chong (W.E.), Crystal Clarke and Pip Anderson.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now... in case you didn't know.
