According to Variety, Paramount Pictures have stepped up to handle the movie, with Lawrence, who picked up a Golden Globe last week for Joy (2015), confirmed to star.
Aronofsky has written and will, as ever, direct and produce the new film. The story will find a couple whose peaceful existence is shattered when uninvited guests show up at their home.
However the story shakes out, Lawrence was tempted by the concept and the chance to work with the Requiem For A Dream (2000) director, and the potential addition of Bardem certainly ups the interest factor. With luck, the film will be out next year.
Lawrence next has X-Men: Apocalypse out on 19 May, with science fiction romance Passengers following on 23 December. Bardem, meanwhile, will be in villain mode again for Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which will finally arrive in 2017.
