Richard Linklater's coming of age comedy Dazed And Confused (1993) has become a modern classic, falling into the same category as bittersweet films like George Lucas' American Graffiti (1973). Now the writer and director is set on the 1980s with Everybody Wants Some, his so-called "spiritual sequel" to Dazed And Confused.
The film follow a group of college baseball players in the early 1980s in Texas as they attempt to navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood. And as they presumably try to play baseball at some point between drinking binges, getting high, and scoring in other ways, if you catch my meaning.
While this first trailer arguably comes off just a little too crude for peak Linklater, there is no escaping the classic Linklater dialogue – "Embrace your inner strange, man; be weird." Plus, you can bet the soundtrack will be terrific, considering the title Everybody Wants Some is indeed a nod to the Van Halen classic heard in the trailer.
Everybody Wants Some stars Blake Jenner (Glee), Ryan Guzman (The Boy Next Door), Tyler Hoechlin (Hall Pass), Wyatt Russell (22 Jump Street), Glen Powell (The Dark Knight Rises), Will Brittain (A Teacher) and Zoey Deutch (Vampire Academy) and is set to arrive in UK cinemas 13 May.
