Ryan Reynolds set for Truth In Advertising

He will be shooting his mouth (and presumably several guns) off as Deadpool next year, but Ryan Reynolds (Buried) is also adding smaller projects to his future slate. News arrives via Deadline that he is in final talks to lead new comedy drama Truth In Advertising.

Roger Michell, who last brought us Le Week-End (2013), is attached to direct the film, which novelist John Kenney adapted from his own award winning book. Reynolds will be Fin Dolan, a hard working sort at an advertising company. His boss asks him to cancel his Christmas holidays to work on a new campaign, but when his best friend announces her engagement and his estranged father is admitted to hospital at the same time, he starts to question the direction is life is taking. Is he simply drifting through it while others are moving on?

"John Kenney has adapted his genius novel beautifully and crafted a smart, funny modern tale which analyzes society’s obsession with consumerism," producers Lisa Wilson (Jenny's Wedding) and Myles Nestel (Stuck In love) tell Deadline. "His script is in safe hands with Roger Michell who previously explored our media-crazed culture in Notting Hill (1999). The charismatic Ryan Reynolds is perfect for the role of the everyday advertising executive trying to find his way in a confusing world."

Reynolds can currently be seen on our screens in Mississippi Grind and, as mentioned, has Deadpool hitting on 4 February. Michell is developing psychodrama My Cousin Rachel, which may star Rachel Weisz (The Fountain).
