Riz Ahmed joins new Bourne film

Jason Bourne's world is getting increasingly crowded for his next globe trotting mission. News arrives via Variety that Riz Ahmed (Ill Manors) has been hired for the new Bourne film.

Having made an impact in films such as Four Lions (2014) and Nightcrawler (2014), Ahmed has been in demand of late, and recently scored a role in Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (previously known as Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One). For Bourne, his part isn't entirely clear, though it appears he is playing some sort of tech specialist at the CIA. According to Variety, he nearly wasn't able to take the job at all thanks to schedule clashes with Rogue One, but everything has been ironed out.

With Paul Greengrass (Captain Phillips) returning as director (and co-writing this time with Christopher Rouse) and Matt Damon (Elysium) once again playing Jason Bourne, the film's story is being kept quiet, but will see our hero returning from his stint off the grid to a world full of financial collapse and a post Edward Snowden rush of secrets being revealed. He will be visiting several locations as usual, this time including Tenerife (standing in for Greece), London, Budapest and Las Vegas. The cast also features Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Tommy Lee Jones (No Country For Old Men), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan), Scott Shepherd (Side Effects) and returning series veteran Julia Stiles as Nicky Parsons.

Ahmed has a few movies on the way, including crime thriller City Of Tiny Lights and a drama called Blackbird. And, of course, his trip to the galaxy far, far away with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, leaving hyperspace on 16 December next year.
