Daniel Radcliffe and Anne Hathaway set for In The Modern Ocean

Usually found working with near unknowns (and has taken lead roles himself), director Shane Carruth (Primer) has loftier ambitions for his next film thanks to boosted budget. New arrives via Variety that Daniel Radcliffe (Kill Your Darlings), Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables), Chloë Grace Moretz (Carrie), Tom Holland (The Impossible), Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Abraham Attah (Beasts Of No Nation) and Jeff Goldblum (The Grand Budapest Hotel) are all prepared to take a dip in The Modern Ocean.

That is certainly quite a cast. FilmNation are providing backing for the new drama, which is still largely shrouded in mystery. What we do know is that The Modern Ocean will follow the fraught competition between valuable shipping routes, a search for a hidden cache of some priceless material and how vengeance drives a secretive world that boasts cryptic technologies and burning rivalries.

We will have to wait and see whether the bigger cast means Carruth also has to be less ambiguous in his storytelling, but it sounds like he is blending the complex, thoughtful tone he has employed before with some bigger action. There is no word on when the shoot will kick off, but we would imagine there will be some schedule juggling in store to make that large cast work.
