Director Wes Ball's adaptation of James Dashner's first novel, The Maze Runner, proved itself a franchise starter last year, notching up more than $300 million around the world.
Maze Runner: Scorch Trials picks up what happens after Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) and the other survivors of the Glade and its surrounding maze go on the run on an Earth that has been ravaged by solar flares and a virulent epidemic. Not to mention the more human threats present...
Kaya Scodelario (Clash Of The Titans) and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game Of Thrones) are among those returning, with Patricia Clarkson's (Shutter Island) manipulative scientist also present. Lili Taylor (The Conjuring) is also set to play Mary Cooper, a doctor who helps Thomas and friends, while Barry Pepper (True Grit) plays Vince, a survivalist and former soldier.
With Aiden Gillen (The Dark Knight Rises), Nathalie Emmanuel (Game Of Thrones), Giancarlo Esposito (Alex Cross) and Jacob Lofland (Mud) also among the cast, The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials lands in the UK on 17 September.
