Charlize Theron set for The Coldest City

News arrived via Deadline recently that Charlize Theron (Prometheus) has joined David Leitch and Chad Stahelski's (John Wick) graphic novel adaptation The Coldest City.

Wasteland writer Antony Johnston is behind the source material for the film, which Kurt Johnstad (300) is adapting. David Leitch and Chad Stahelski are on board to direct the movie, to which Focus Features has bought the US rights.

Theron is set to play a skilled intelligence operative that is called into action when an undercover MI6 spy is killed just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. She will have to track down a list he was smuggling to the West in order to prevent her and her colleagues becoming endangered by the release of crucial information. And the mission becomes a deadly game of double-crossing agents and global agendas.

Leitch and Stahelski are much in demand at the moment, with a John Wick sequel in development and leaping aboard projects such as Cowboy Ninja Viking and fellow graphic novel adaptation Bloodshot. They are now scheduled to work on Coldest City this October in Germany. Theron is currently back on our screens in George Miller's post-apocalyptic adventure Mad Max: Fury Road.
