Phil Lord and Chris Miller developing The Flash for Warner Bros

News arrived via Deadline recently that The Lego Movie (2014) duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller are set to develop Warner Bros' cinematic take on DC Comics' The Flash.

At this stage the pair have only committed to write a treatment for the film about the super speedy hero Barry Allen, who awakens from a coma after a strange incident to discover his new abilities. Lord and Miller are not yet slated to direct, and indeed neither do they have a project locked in yet. Chances are that if they come up with a story and/or script that they and the studio all like, they might end up calling the shots, and this particular blogger would certainly be happy to see that.

Ezra Miller (The Perks Of Being A Wallflower) is in place to play the character, who is rumoured to crop up in Zack Synder's Man Of Steel (2013) follow-up, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, for what will probably be a quick (no pun intended) cameo. If he doesn't, then he will likely first emerge in the Justice League movie, taking aim at 2017. The standalone Flash film, meanwhile, is set for 2018. Lord and Miller are also busy cooking ideas for more Jump Street and overseeing the massive Lego franchise that they helped to start.
