Patty Jenkins now set for Wonder Woman

Within days of Breaking Bad veteran director Michelle MacLaren departing Wonder Woman over creative differences, news arrives via The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros have hired Patty Jenkins (Monster) to take her place.

Jenkins was famously the first director hired to handle Thor: The Dark World (2013), but despite her enthusiasm for the project, never quite saw eye to eye with Marvel and was ultimately replaced by Alan Taylor.

Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) is playing the title character, making her first appearance in Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel (2013) follow-up Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice next year, before the Wonder Woman standalone adventure arrives in 2017. Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift) is writing the script for the film, with MacLaren collaborating while she was in development.

After helping Charlize Theron to an Academy Award® win with Monster (2003), Jenkins has largely worked in TV, kicking off The Killing with its pilot and directing episodes of shows as varied as Arrested Development and Entourage. With luck, this will be her chance to return to cinema in a big way.
