James Wan in early talks to direct Aquaman for Warner Bros

Following his work in the horror genre, James Wan (The Conjuring) has made a slightly successful jump into the action realm pulling off the supremely difficult task of making Fast & Furious 7, which has now powered past $800 million at the global box office. That huge hit means he is naturally in demand and news arrives via The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros are seriously considering him to direct one of their DC Entertainment outings, holding early talks for him to tackle Aquaman.

Jason Momoa (Conan The Barbarian) is still set to star in the film as the watery hero, who is reportedly cameoing in Zack Synder's Man Of Steel (2013) follow-up Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and will naturally be a part of the Justice League films. But Wan is currently wanted to handle the standalone Aquaman adventure, which Warner Bros want in cinemas for 2018.

Currently, the studio has two scripts on track in development, with Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300) both at work on stories that will either fight each other for dominance or be combined into one movie.

The Hollywood Reporter are also quick to highlight that Wan doesn't actually have an offer at this point. While Warner Bros are certainly interested, there is a chance he could be called upon by Universal Pictures to make an eighth Fast & Furious film and is already preparing to shoot Conjuring sequel The Enfield Poltergeist, which should be on our screens next year. As always, watch this space.
