"Chewie... We're home."

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have just released their latest trailer for J.J. Abrams' (Star Trek Into Darkness) Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Now that was worth the wait. Following on from the first teaser that debuted back in November, the second trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrived during the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim this week.

Narrated this time out by Mark Hamill's Luke, who references the Force, especially in terms of it running through his father, his sister, himself and... some unseen child... the second promo is crammed full of things sure to get the blood pumping and the heart beating.

From the opening shot of a Star Destroyer wreckage to the closing shot of Han Solo and Chewbacca, reunited on screen after 32 years, with Solo announcing that they're "home".

We also get shots of Daisy Ridley's (Silent Witness) scavenger Rey, who lives on a desert planet called Jakku (not Tatooine), and John Boyega's (Attack The Block) Finn running from an explosion with rolling droid BB-8 in hot pursuit, Oscar Isaac's (Inside Llewyn Davis) Poe Dameron whooping as he guides his X-Wing over water, Adam Driver's (Girls) Kylo Ren using his force powers, a battalion of Stormtroopers, a TIE fighter taking out what looks like the inside of an Imperial hanger and an intriguing new Shadow Trooper (possibly Game Of Thrones' Gwendoline Christie).

Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives on 18 December.
