Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and more Join Suicide Squad

It's not often you see someone who has played a Marvel comics character on the big screen switching to a DC Entertainment outing*, but news arrives via The Wrap that Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played Algrim and Kurse in Thor: The Dark World (2013), is headed to David Ayer's (Fury) Suicide Squad, where he will play Killer Croc.

And Akinnuoye-Agbaje is not alone in the latest casting announcement, with The Wrap bringing word that Scott Eastwood (Fury) and Karen Fukuhara will also be part of the supervillain team-up film that Ayer is currently wrangling together. Eastwood's role has not been officially revealed but the scoop hounds at Latino Review have heard he is largely cameoing as Scott Trevor, a potential future love interest for Gal Gadot's (Fast & Furious 6) Wonder Woman (who does not, as yet, appear to crop up in Suicide Squad).

As for Killer Croc, his real name is Waylon Jones, and he joined Batman's rogue's gallery in 1983. The reptilian creature is blessed with strength and agility. He joins a line-up that already includes Will Smith (I Am Legend) as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman (RoboCop) as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street) as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney (Jack Reacher) as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne (Anna Karenina) as Enchantress, Viola Davis (Prisoners) as Amanda Waller, Jay Hernandez (Hostel) as El Diablo and Jared Leto (Dallas Buyers Club) as The Joker.

Ayer is busy putting the pieces together ready to start shooting soon and has an 5 August 2016 release date on the calendar.

*Ryan Reynolds played Marvel's Merc with a Mouth Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) before heading over to DC Entertainment for the underwhelming Green Lantern (2011). Reynolds is set to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – and the role of Wade Wilson – in Tim Miller's Deadpool, due to arrive 12 February next year.
