New image from Neill Blomkamp's planned Alien movie arrives online

Chappie director Neill Blomkamp spoke to Empire magazine earlier this month to talk about his plans for his new Alien movie, which won't, in his words, "tread on the toes" of franchise godfather Ridley Scott's upcoming Prometheus 2.

"I changed the one thing [Scott] felt was bumping Prometheus a little bit," reveals Blomkamp. "One thing that makes me feel good about it is that Ridley is producing it. He likes the idea of what I want to make."

On top of this tantalising quote, there was another curious aside from the South African director – Alien 5 will most likely not actually be called Alien 5.

"I sent the title I wanted to Ridley," says Blomkamp. "It's kinda quite bold, but it gives away too much if I say the title. But in the event that it doesn't work, I'm dead in the water..." Colour us intrigued.

Blomkamp's Alien movie has no set release date, but that's certainly not going to stop anyone getting worryingly excited about it.

Chappie, meanwhile, is out now.
