Rosamund Pike may climb The Mountain Between Us

After her strong performance in David Fincher's (The Social Network) Gone Girl this year, Rosamund Pike is in high demand. And it seems she may have found a future role. Variety reports that she is in early talks for Hany Abu-Assad's (Paradise Now) The Mountain Between Us.

Charlie Hunnam is already confirmed to star in the film, which boasts a script that has seen work from J. Mills Goodloe (Pride) and Scott Frank (The Wolverine), among others. The Mountain Between Us adapts Charles Martin's novel, which finds two strangers surviving a plane crash in the Colorado woods and braving the elements together. The experience draws them closer and they fall in love. Hunnam will play Ben Trace, a doctor and climbing fanatic who helps injured writer Ashley (Pike, assuming she signs on) as they make their way down a mountain in unforgiving weather.

Hany Abu-Assad is the man set to call the shots on this one, which has already been through a few casting fluctuations – Michael Fassbender (Prometheus) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf Of Wall Street) were in talks previously, but it would appear Hunnam is committed and Pike is seriously interested. And this won't shoot for a while – production is planned for the end of next year in order to wait for the proper wintry conditions. Which has actually helped in terms of scheduling as Hunnam will be busy with Guy Ritchie's (Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows) King Arthur and Pike is expecting a child and taking a break from work.
