Richard Armitage set for Sleepwalker

Richard Armitage will back on our screens next week as driven Dwarf leader Thorin Oakenshield in
Peter Jackson's 'defining chapter' of the Hobbit trilogy, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies.. But with his adventures in Middle Earth finally complete, Armitage is long since on to other things. News arrives via Deadline that he is currently at work on a psychological thriller called Sleepwalker alongside Ahna O'Reilly (The Help) and Haley Joel Osment (The Sixth Sense).

O'Reilly is the focus of this one, playing a graduate student who starts suffering from insomnia after her sleep patterns are interrupted by a nasty bout of nightmares. When she heads to a campus sleep clinic to start getting treatment, she instead starts seeing disturbing changes to her waking reality. Armitage will be a doctor who helps untangle her psychological knots and understand how her tragic past is contributing to her difficult present.

As for Osment, he's lined up for what Deadline has heard is a role unlike anything he's done before, which makes us think he could be a nasty villain in the film. Jack Olsen wrote the script and Elliott Lester (Blitz) is calling the shots in Los Angeles.

Armitage, as mentioned, will be in The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, arriving here on 12 December. O'Reilly is part of the cast for James Brown biopic Get On Up, out now, while Osment is in Kevin Smith's (Clerks) Tusk and has recently worked on the director's next feature, Yoga Hosers.
